Liz Lieu
Liz Lieu was born in August 1972 in Vietnam, and her family moved to the United States (Colorado) a year after her birth (more bio info on this Liz fan site). By her early teens, Liz was playing poker with her friends. She liked card games from a very early age, and when she came of legal age, she started playing in local card clubs, even opening a home game. Before too much longer, Liz Lieu knew that she wanted to make a career out of playing poker, so she moved to Las Vegas for professional play.
Liz started by playing games with an $80-$160 pot limit, but she quickly moved on to bigger and better games. In 2005, urged by friend and fellow poker player John Phan, she entered the tournament scene. In her first tournament outing, she finished 12th in a no-limit hold 'em tournament, winning $24,000. She followed that with a fifth-place, $53,000 finish at that year's World Poker Finals. In 2007, Liz Lieu won the LA Poker Classic for $148,000; while she specializes mainly in cash games, she is a force to be reckoned with in tournament play.
Liz Lieu isn't just a great poker player; she's a very attractive woman and she's a fashionista as well. She's been on the cover of magazines like American Poker Player, Maxim's Total Poker, Deal, Woman Poker Player, Flush and Pro Poker Europe. Liz is now dividing her time between LA and Las Vegas, and in her spare time, she likes shopping, clubbing, and spending time with loved ones.
