Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso is one of the best female players in modern poker, and she's been ahead of the game for most of her life. Rousso graduated with a major in economics from Duke after only 2 1/2 years, and then she went to law school at UM. During her time at the university, she was on the editorial board of the school's Law Review, and she was also in the top five percent in her class. Despite her stellar performance in law school, however, she did not finish and decided to play poker instead.
Vanessa Rousso has 11 WSOP cash finishes, and a $700,000 bankroll in PokerStars' WCOP. Her screen name is LadyMaverick, and she is a fierce competitor both online and in live tournament action. Her biggest score ever came in 2009, at the European Poker Tour's Monte Carlo $25,000 no-limit event, where she won $750,000. She has also been successful at the Borgata Poker Open, and in NBC's Heads-Up Championship.
In addition to her time at the poker table, Vanessa "LadyMaverick" Rousso is very active in other parts of her life; she's an activist in favor of gambling and a bit of a sex symbol. In 2007, she went to Washington to be part of the Poker Players' Alliance's effort to get Congress to revoke the UIGA, which disallows online gambling in the US. She also appeared in the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Rousso is a spokeswoman and a lover of the game, and she's ready to represent poker around the world.
