Bertrand Grospellier

Bertrand Grospellier is also known as Elky, and he's a professional gamer and poker player. He made his name in the gaming world, but he made his entrance into poker when he won the EPT's PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Grospellier was born in Annecy, France, and he started playing computer games at the age of three. From there, he made his way to the gaming community's upper echelon.

When Grospellier was 21, he got a runner-up finish at the World Cyber Games, then moved to South Korea to be a professional gamer. His knack for the game StarCraft made him a regular guest on South Korea's three gaming TV networks.

Then, a friend told him about PokerStars, and he started playing no limit hold 'em online. He says that the unpredictable competitiveness of poker is ideal for him, but that sometimes pacing presents a problem in live tournaments. He could use his speed to play several online tables at once, but with live tournaments, he had to learn more patience. His first notable win came at the 2005 French Open; he finished ninth at the 500-euro No Limit Hold 'Em tournament.

Grospellier only finished 37th in his first American tournament, and he won $400,000 at the EPT Scandinavian Open, following that with a whopping $2,000,000 win the following year. After he won 2008's Caribbean Adventure, Grospellier has left an indelible mark on the professional poker world. He is now a member of the PokerStars team, where he can sharpen his multitabling skills. He divides his time between South Korea and Paris, With all the knowledge he's gained from years of playing, he will continue to play a big part in professional poker.
