Dario Minieri
Dario Minieri was born in Rome, Italy, and he got his competitive streak when he was very young, cutting his teeth on a trading card game called Magic: the Gathering. He traveled the world over playing Magic tournaments until he discovered the far more lucrative world of online poker. He was enrolled in college to study psychology, but he dropped out to pursue his poker career.
Dario Minieri sharpened his game playing in sit-n-go tournaments, and he garnered recognition by being the first PokerStars player to buy a car with his frequent player points (see a video here). In 2006, he made an impression at the WSOP's main event. That year, he also finished third at an EPT event, winning $160,000.
2008 was Dario Minieri's year to come out; he won over a million dollars in tournaments. His first victory came at the EPT San Remo event, where he had a third-place finish and a $454,000 cash prize. He won his first WSOP bracelet in June 2008, along with a $528,000 cash prize. He finished the year with another EPT final table.
He is only in his early twenties, but Dario Minieri has already accomplished so much. He's forever looking for ways to improve his game, and he says that his keys for success are: not talking about his "bad luck" when he loses, a positive attitude, and believing in himself. When he is not playing poker, he likes to play soccer, watch movies, and drive his Porsche. However, poker is his first love, and he can often be found playing under the screen name "Dariominieri".
